The Fairview Cemetery recently undertook a significant remediation of the Cemetery residence’s sewer line, replacing the entire line from the residence around the house to the edge of the Cemetery property line, and re-lining the pipe from the Cemetery property line to the City’s main pipe under the Cerrillos Road right-of-way in the center of the road.
Approximately 75 feet of new pipe was laid, in addition to approximately 90 feet of pipe being re-lined with the latest epoxy resin material. This project remediated a failing sewer pipe and included installing a check valve and two new sets of clean-outs. Some work under the residence still needs to be done, but this extensive project should last for many years.
Efforts are being made to repair and replace concrete traffic barriers along the lanes and around hydrants within the cemetery. Serviceable barriers are being reused and re-leveled and new ones are replacing old, crumbled, ineffective barriers. New barriers have been placed around several corners that were prone to damage by vehicular traffic. Some markers on these corners were subject to damage from vehicles straying off of existing lanes. In addition, guide marker/reflectors are being placed in areas where vehicles may possibly damage water hydrants or memorials. Board member and community service volunteer are continuing to work on the project throughout the summer. The landscaping contractor has been repairing and installing/replacing irrigation lines to trees and shrubs that were not receiving adequate or any amounts water. That process is ongoing as repairs and maintenance issues are identified.
